I am trying to update the software on my new I ...

In trying to update the software on my new I pad Pro  It is asking for a Passcode that I do not have and did not create?  How do I set or reset this passcode?

I see that you're running into an issue updating your iPad because it is asking for your passcode. Since you're unable to remember your device passcode, I recommend following the guidance in this support article on the subject:

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

Keep in mind that if you use iTunes to erase the device, this will install the latest version of iOS (11.0.3) in the process.
