icloud calendar with echo dot

I want to enable the iCloud calendar with amazons Alexa app (echo dot). But it seems one must enable two factor authentication as part of set up. We do not want two factor authentication. I have read a lot of horror stories about people being locked out their accounts plus my father had terrible trouble with it. For that reason. It stays firmly off on our devices. Surely their must be a way round this so that iCloud calendar can be used. We didn’t have any issue like this when adding google and outlook calendars to Alexa. Nice and simple. Surely just an app specific password to use this should be enough. Any advice for a workaround will be much appreciated
