Notifications with Apple Watch and iPhone

I have an Apple Watch Series 3 and iPhone 7+.  Both are updated with the current iOS.   

I am having trouble receiving notifications on my iPhone.  When my iPhone is on the lock screen (black/blank screen) I don’t receive texts, emails or Facebook messenger.   I have my Apple notifications to mirror my iPhone.    

When I turn my email noticatons, my texts and facebook messenger notifications to custom (turned them off) on my Apple Watch the messages will come through on my iPhone when it’s in the lock screen (black screen).   

Well I also want to receive notifications on my Apple Watch but when I choose to mirror my phone I don’t receive the notifications when my phone is on the lock screen.   Any help would be great?

I do have my notifications on my iPhone set to display on lock screen.
