MacBook Air itunes library shuffle

So when I listen to music in my itunes library, the shuffle feature is activated (blue) and won't respond to a click.  Then I opened the drop menu bar Controls and turn it off there, but it itunes still won't stop shuffling.  Ugh.  Help!
