What do I do when I have redeemed an iTunes car...

So I have redeemed the iTunes card and it is showing up in the balance on the top right hand side but when I go to buy music it won't let me!? Why!!?? If I click on gift to see what happens it asks for credit card and when I hit none nothing happens! Help!! Thanks
