2017 MBPro 128 vs. 256 (non touch) any ssd spee...

Considering buying a 2017 MBPro 128 vs. 256 (non touch) and I wondered are there any speed differences between the 128 vs 256 ssd read and write performance?

Other than storage space they appear equal but I figured I would confirm if the drives perform equally, of course more storage is always better but saving $200 if the 128 reads and writes at the same speeds is where I am at right now.

Hi,

I don't have speed tests to prove it, but there's no reason they shouldn't be of similar speed. I say "similar" because there sometimes is a slight difference with third party SSDs depending on size, with the larger drives being faster.

That aside, do yourself a favor and get the 256 now. 128 just isn't enough, over time, for the vast majority of people. The problem is, by the time you figure that out, it's too late, there's no changing the drive. I've heard plenty of people complain about not enough storage, but never anyone complain about too much. Just consider what that $200 really breaks down to when you spread it over the life of the MBP, which should easily be five years plus....
