Unable to transfer/sync my photos on my mac to ...

Two problems. I want to sync/transfer photos from my Photos albums on my iMac to those on my iPad.  I have tried the syncing methods advised by iTunes - no joy. I did manage to upload all to iCloud though as a fix. But that's where they remain. I don't know how to now get them into my iPad photo app. Anybody knows anything helpful out there?

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have tried iCloud all different ways. At the moment exploring using Google photos to solve this problem. Earlier in the day, I did also speak to someone on the Apple Tech Team asking for help. The best idea from them was upload to iCloud.  I did that but still strugling to get the stuff to my Photo site.  Ey ho!
