How to take a triangular screen capture?

I have a square shape as an image.

I simply want to cut it in two along diagonal and then animate the two triangular portions.

How to take a triangular screen capture using any App that came with the Mac (e.g. Keynote, Pages) plus Graphic Convertor?

I don't really want to download Photoshop etc as this is a school project.

Maybe I  need to think outside this square box

but I was so used to using the "marching ants" and scissors in software years ago. Where have they gone?

Note that regular screen capture - shift-option-4 - is only rectangular.

Thanks.

Michael

I try not to clog my OS X with aftermarket utilities that tend to cause more problems than they are worth. Anything loading itself to be used later on that's not an App is a resource that I don't want taking up resources. A graphics program would likely give you far more flexibility than a screen shot App. Again; GIMP is free, if you ever played an independent game chances are they used something like GIMP to do the graphics.

Take a screen capture and use a 3rd party graphics program such as Affinity Photo which has a one time $49 price tag

Affinity - Professional creative software

or GIMP which is free

https://www.gimp.org/

a Triangular screen shot is not something modern OS's do "out of the box" these days.

Thanks. Isn't there a lasso tool in one of the Apple Apps ?

Thank you. I downloaded GIMP.
