can't get OS X to load on new hard drive on 201...

hard drive crashed on 2011 MacBook Pro, replaced drive now I can't get OS X to load keeps trying to load Sierra thats not my start up disc.so I'm hung up won't let me  get past pick the drive you want to install in

Hi,

Sierra is OS X (actually, it's been changed to macOS), so if it's trying to install that, it's doing what it should. If there's some other issue, please explain it, as I don't understand.
