apfs bootcamp

Does anyone know if High Sierra will support bootcamp if using APFS volumes? I have seen that this is not yet the case with beta 2.

I ran through an interesting set of circumstances last week:

  1. Upgraded my kids Macbook 12" (256GB SSD) to High Sierra
  2. Attempted to use BootCamp Assistant to install Windows 10 (for a school project)
  3. Drive partition failed due to corruption issues. Couldn't re-partition to remove the 20GB region reserved for Windows. Had no other option than to clone the drive, re-format the internal SSD, restore and try again.
  4. Cloned the boot drive (was still HFS+) to an external HD and successfully booted off the external HD.
  5. When I went to re-format the internal SSD, APFS was the only option.
  6. When I cloned the external drive back to the internal SSD, it would not boot. I assumed it was due to trying to clone at HFS+ to APFS. (Probably an incorrect assumption, but what did I know.)
  7. At that point, I figured I'd just reinstall High Sierra from an 8GB install flash drive I had created previously, then use Migration Assistant to move everything from the external HD.
  8. To my delight, when the High Sierra install finished, the user accounts and all data I had restored in what I assumed was a failed restore, was actually available. Apparently "installing" High Sierra simply fixed the boot issue.
  9. As an extra bonus, APFS freed enough space on the SSD that I now had 40GB to allocate to the Windows 10 partition.
  10. I ran Bootcamp Assistant again, this time if finished successfully and I now have High Sierra on an APFS partition and Windows 10 on a NTFS partition. Works AMAZING! The Windows 10 machine is wicked fast!
