Remote AFP SMB slow speed

Hi everyone,

I have two Macs, remotely connected via the Back to My Mac function, and would like to access and write files on one of the two with the other.

Everything works fine using both AFP and SMB transfer protocols, except that the transfer speed is extremely low: 80kBps. Even the file list takes time to show up (up to several minutes) when opening a remote folder.

Info on the systems:

Mac Pro 2013 (as server) and MacBook Pro 2011

macOS Sierra 10.12.6 on both systems

100 Mbps internet connections on both ends

On both routers, uPnP is enabled, and I triggered the following ports:

TCP: 443, 4488, 5223

UDP: 500, 1900, 4500, 5350-5353, 49152 to 65534

as specified in Apple's port requirements for the functionality.

Any solutions, including alternatives to Back to My Mac, would be much appreciated.

Thank you
