Trying to record.

I am trying to record a song on my Mac Pro.. I am using garage band to record the vocal and quick time player to record the video..

only problem is.. I'm recording with my headphones on, and when I play the video back there is no instrumental. so you cant hear the song its just me singing. I have tried to take the headphones off to record but then I cant hear my voice so frustrating can anyone help me please.. thank you.
