Restoring from Time Machine Backup

When restoring from a Time Machine backup, does it restore the FileVault setting (either enabled or not)? As far as I understand, the backup itself is not encrypted (unless you separately encrypt the backup). So I am not sure if upon restoring from the backup, it also enables the FileVault and the drive is then encrypted if it had been enabled previously or if you have to enable it again.
