I recently purchased a MacBook for the first time. I'm setting up my usual art program (krita) when I notice there's no windows to minimize or exit out of the program. The only available tools in the window where normally these settings would be, are tools to save & create files. but nothing else. 

Does anyone have a solution? I want to minimize krita without having to go through a maze to do so.

It's possible those buttons are off the top of the display. Grab the topmost part of the apps window and try dragging it down. If no luck, press command w to close the window, then go to the File? menu and open a new window. If no luck, try booting into Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting) and see how the app behaves there.
