Shutdown while Filevault is encrypting

I turned on my filevault and it will take more than a day to finish. Is it okay to shutdown my mac while encrypting?

As far as I know your can reboot but in this old thread Is it ok to shut down / restart mac while on progress doing encryption for file vault 2 (mountain lion) ? NEED SOLUTION !! Thanks it is posted an article where is explained that is better to wait.
