Contacts completely blank on iPhone

I have iCloud set-up and signed-in on my Mac and iPhone. Contacts appear (listed under 'iCloud') on my Mac: Address Book, and on iCloud.com, but the Contacts app on my iPhone is completely blank.

'Contacts' is checked to sync on the Mac: System Preferences > iCloud. Contacts are also checked to sync on the iPhone: Settings > iCloud.

I've also tried turning Contacts on & off on the Mac: System Preferences > iCloud, as I read in another thread, but it didn't fix it. OSs on both devices are 100% up-to-date.

If anyone knows what the cure might be, I'd love to hear it. Much thanks!!

Thx Carolyn, but that didn't work either. I had to reset the phone completely & start from scratch. I made sure to answer 'no' to iCloud during set-up and then add it manually afterwards. After that it worked 100%.

but the Contacts app on my iPhone is completely blank.

Try switching Contacts in Settings > iCloud off then back on then reset the device.

Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I had the same problem, but found this worked:

1. Disable iCloud Contact syncing (Settings -> iCloud -> Contacts)

2. Power down phone

3. Enable iCloud Contact syncing  (Settings -> iCloud -> Contacts)

In about 2 minutes all my contacts came back.  I hope it's as simple for everyone else!

I know this is three years late but thankyou for this, you solved my problem

I tried this and my contacts only show up in the contacts app when i disable iCloud.  any advice ?
