new to apple music

As a new subscriber to Apple Music i just realized i can download music to my personal library.  What happens to the music if i were to quit Apple Music at some later date?  Does it stay in my library or does Apple differentiate between purchased songs individually and those downloaded while a member of Apple Music?

You won’t be able to play Apple Music tracks afterwards; they’re treated differently from individual purchases.
