Cannot delete email from notification

Until today I could always delete an email when I received the notification on my Apple watch. It was very convenient. Now all I can do is dismiss the notification. Does anyone know how to get that option back?

No, but i think it must have come with the last update (down-date?!). When i get an email notification, one tap opens a short preview of it, and shows four buttons, 'mark as unread', 'flag', 'delete' or 'dismiss'. If i press the 'delete' button it opens the mail! 

If i then scroll all the way down to the bottom (which is a pain on some long emails, using the crown) I get to the same four buttons, but this time the delete button works.

So I can do it, but the convenient button that is supposed to do it the easy way, doesn't work. 

Oddly enough, two years from the original post, the same has happened to me from today. I updated to Watch OS4 when it came out, and am running the latest iOS, but this morning, when I get a notification about an email, i am only able to dismiss it. Anyone know what's changed/happened to stop Delete/Flag being available options?
