I cannot pair my recently acquired Apple Watch ...

I am experiencing the same issue with my Apple Watch and iPhone. My phone is up to date, but I cannot pair my recently acquired Apple Watch (series 2 Nike edition) as it states my phone is not up to date when I attempt to connect. Your answer is to update the watch via the iPhone, however how is this even possible when my watch cannot connect to my iPhone? I am not able to see any details or the My Watch screen in the Watch app, as the watch is not connected to the phone. Can you please elaborate?

Follow the instructions here to pair and set up Apple Watch:

 

 

If your Apple Watch has previously been updated with watchOS 4 developer beta software, then it cannot be paired to an iPhone running iOS 10.x. watchOS is also not user-downgradable. Your options include:

 

  • Return the Apple Watch to the seller for a refund.
  • Wait for iOS 11 to be released (due for release on 19 September).
  • Participate in the iOS 11 public beta (this is not recommended for your main device):
  • Contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for assistance.
