Wanda shares tumble on rumours chairman detaine

Shares in Chinese conglomerate Wanda’s hotel chain plunged nearly 10 per cent in Hong Kong on Monday (Aug 28) despite the firm dismissing as false reports that chairman Wang Jianlin had been barred from leaving the country and detained for hours.

8月28日周一，中國萬達集團旗下的萬達連鎖酒店在香港的股價暴跌近10%，盡管該公司否認關於董事長王建林被禁止出境並被拘留數小時的虛假報道。

Wanda and other Chinese conglomerates that made a succession of multi-billion-dollar overseas investments in recent years have been under official scrutiny for months as Beijing clamps down on capital flight and skyrocketing debt.

近年來，萬達和其他中國企業集團紛紛在海外投資了數十億美元。數月來，中國政府北京方麵一直在嚴格審查並打壓這些企業的資本外逃和債務飆升情況。

The obscure website Bowen Press reported on Sunday that Wang, one of China’s richest men, was stopped at Tianjian airport on Friday as he sought to fly to London.

據不知名網站Bowen Press周日報道，中國富翁之一的王健林周五在天津機場被攔下，當時他正計劃飛往倫敦。

It said he was released after several hours but told he could not leave China.

據稱，數小時後他被釋放，但被告知不能離開中國。

Wanda Group released a state"Wanda Group strongly reiterates that all of these rumours are utterly baseless and have ulterior motives behind them," it added.

萬達集團發布了一份聲明，稱“萬達集團強烈重申，所有這些謠言都是毫無根據的，背後有不可告人的動機。”

But the Hong Kong-listed shares of Wanda Hotel Development Co plunged as much as 9.62 per cent on Monday.

但萬達酒店在香港上市的股票周一暴跌了9.62%。

They later seesawed throughout the session and were down more than six percent by mid-afternoon.

隨後股價上下起伏不定，到下午三點左右下降了超過6%。

Wanda has diversified rapidly in recent years from commercial property into entertainment, theme parks, sports and other sectors, and is now reportedly facing difficulty paying off debts run up in its buying sprees.

近年來，萬達在商業地產、主題公園、體育和其他行業等領域的業務發展迅速並多元化，但據報道說，萬達目前正麵臨著高額債務償還問題。

It said in July it was selling off 77 hotels and several other tourism-related assets in a huge deal worth US$9.3 billion to Guangzhou-based R&F Properties.

Recent reports have said China plans to squeeze Wanda by cutting off new loans and regulatory approvals for deals, punishing it for breaching Chinese restrictions on overseas investments.

最近有報道稱，中國計劃通過削減萬達貸款和監管審批來擠壓萬達集團，因為該公司違反了中國對海外投資的規定。
