does the apple watch track sleep?

im looking into upgrading my fitbit and i would like to get an apple watch.  but i really like that the sleep tracking that the fit bit offers.  Does the apple watch have this feature also?

Apple Watch does not presently offer sleep tracking via a built-in app.

 

However, some third-party apps for Apple Watch do offer sleep tracking. Some of these also require a related third-party accessory, whereas some others use the watch's own sensors.

 

Examples that you may wish to consider include:

 

I have tested some tracking apps:

  • Sleep++ was draining my Apple Watch battery from 98 percent when going to bed to zero at morning.
  • Sleep Pulse 2 always hang after 2 or three nights. Than You have to deinstall and install again the App to get it run again. the App is totally buggy. And it is not possible to track divided sleeping time like in shiftwork.
  • Sleep Watch only tracks the sleeping time but does not have any sleep analysis.
  • Heart Watch has too much unwanted heart watch stuff, but a good sleep tracker and sleep analysis.

 

So, actual there is no usable sleep tracker for the Apple Watch except Heart Watch. But You have to buy a whole heart tracking suite with a built in sleep tracker.

The developer of Sleep++ has previously recommended that the watch is placed into Airplane Mode overnight, whilst using their app, in order to preserve battery life.

I did it.

The pillow app is pretty good.

I found the same with Sleep++ although it okay for the first week and then started draining my battery every night.

Since my last visit here a new app is published: AutoSleep

This app is really good! The app tracks completely automatically! And it does not drain the battery, only about 10…20 percent over night.
