WirelessDiagnostics...... .tar file

A file appeared on my desktop, a few days ago with WirelessDiagnostic in the title and it is a .tar file. I don't remember downloading it. I am not having Wifi problems. Is this a legitimate file? Do I need to run it? Should I just delete it? Thank you, Dix Moser Macbook Pro 2.2 late 2007, 4G mem, 320G HD, OS X 10.11.6 15G1611 El Capitan

Wireless Diagnostics will create a .tar file on your Desktop, so I don't think you need to worry about it. It wasn't downloaded. You can safely delete it, or double-click to see the diagnostics report. It's not something that initiates itself, so it may have a user mistake.
