Can I retrieve photos from my Macbook Air that ...

Hi, my Macbook Air year 2012 won't start. When I plug it in, the power cord lights up and says it's fully charged. It was working fine until I took a boat ride in the Amazon, Peru. When I got off the 3 day boat ride, it wouldn't turn on. I tried again, and it turned on and booted up for a few seconds and then shut down again. It's done that many times. Maybe it's a moisture problem? Since I'm in Peru and it's relatively old, I'm losing hope of saving the computer. I just want to be able to get my photos off of there, as some photos were the only things not backed up unfortunately. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

Moisture could definitely be the cause. Try it again after you get back to conditioned space and let the Mac “dry.”

You could also, now or preferably later (I would avoid powering it up in moist conditions), try Safe Boot and SMC reset.

If nothing works, you’ll have to take the drive out, mount it externally and copy your files to another Mac.

Try Safe Boot mode by holding down the Shift key at startup. Safe Boot is quite slow because the OS performs a bunch of cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. After you're completely logged in, restart normally.

Try clearing SMC by resetting it. This often solves hardware-related issues.
