Macbook Pro noticeably runs slower when charging

So my Macbook has always been kind of on and off with games. It hit me the other day that when I took the charger out EVERYTHING runs much much faster, the general processing speed feels good and games can run with barely any FPS drops or anything. It's a 15" Late 2012 MBP with Intel i7, 4 GB RAM and AMD HD Radeon 6750M. Any reason why this could be? I can't believe I hadn't realised this sooner but that is definitely a system fault. I plug the charger in and it slows down massively. Take it out and it speeds up so much. My only thinking is that the actual heat caused from charging makes the system slower that's just bad design.

Try resetting the SMC and PRAM:

SMC

PRAM

For the SMC, use the method "for a battery you should not remove yourself."

I noticed this problem also with my mac.

After some trial and error I realized that I only experienced this problem at my desk.

I also noticed that it only happened when the machine was charging.

Then it hit me. The charger I'm using at my desk was from from an online retailer and not Apple.

My MBP needs an 85W power adapter.

Essentially I was starving my machine and not giving it enough power to charge the battery and power the machine at the same time.

Be sure to use the right adaptor for your machine.

Hope this helps you all.
