I have a MacBook Pro model a 1502 Would an 85 W MagSafe two charger be compatible or would it cause damage to the system as I am aware that the 60 what is the appropriate charger for this machine

as long as it fits, a larger MagSafe will do no damage to anything. It may even run cooler. But it is a little heavier to carry.

 

A smaller one than required presents several problems, and can only be recommended for offline charging in an emergency.
