iPad2 is disabled

Instructions say that one can use the iCloud to erase the iPad; then return to the Cloud to restore it, and set a new password.  But, when I hit Erase, the message I receive says that it will be erased the next time the iPad is connected to the internet.  But, the iPad cannot be connected to the internet because I am locked out.

How do I restore this iPad, if it is disabled?

You may need to use one of the other two methods described in If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

Note that you can use the recovery mode method even if you've never connected it to iTunes before.

Hi virginia_b,

Follow these steps to restore the iPad.

1. Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, try to borrow one, or go to an Apple Store or Apple Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.

2. While your device is connected, force it to restart. You can do this by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time.

3. Don't release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen.

4. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Restore. iTunes will erase the data on the device.

Note: iTunes will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3.

All the best.
