MacOS Mail share user folders with iOS

Hello,

I use Mail on my iMac Sierra, and I have created some sub-folders in order to classify my emails and clean out the inBox. No mail is sent to the sub-folders using a rule, they are manually displaced.

The sub-folders are not the "intelligent" kind - just standard.

When I try to find an email that I'm certain I have received on either my iPhone or iPad, they are invisible as are the sub-folders created on the iMac. The inBox contents correspond but the emails displaced on the iMac are missing on the iOS devices.

iCloud Drive seems to only handle files, not email.

The iMac is OLD - end 2008 - but seems happy enough with Sierra, but that will be the last OS compatible

If any work around is available, thanks in advance.
