Since new watch update, my daily walks arenR...

Ever since updating watch to new OS, my daily walks aren’t always recorded. For instance, this morning I walked over a mile & watch says I exercised for 3 minutes but shows a 1.18 mile walk lasting 38:37.  I do walk my dog (hence the length of time for a mile - he has to sprinkle the bushes, lol), but before the update it didn’t matter that we paused briefly.  Also, a frustrating problem I’ve had for a while now is with the Stand function.  I can move around the house for 5-10 minutes, sit down & 2-3 minutes later get a notification to stand.  Last question - I’ve never able to use my ear pods via bluetooth while using the watch in walking mode.  Bluetooth seems to stop the watch from recording workouts when on.  I have to turn off Bluetooth before starting a workout, then stop the workoit on the watch & turn back on bluetooth to transfer info to phone.  I’d like to be able to listen to my music via Bluetooth rather than headphones. This has been an issue since 1st Apple Watch.

I’ve checked my settings based on numerous articles & can’t find anything set incorrectly.

Help! And TIA

Hi

In respect of both Exercise credit and Stand credit, it may help to check your settings and to recalibrate your Apple Watch, including resetting your existing calibration data (which helps your Apple Watch to accurately estimate results during outdoor workouts when GPS is limited or unavailable).

To reset your existing data:

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Privacy > tap once on Reset Fitness Calibration Data.

To calibrate your Apple Watch, check your settings and follow the instructions here, including allowing the arm on which you wear your Apple Watch to swing naturally (also aim to do this during general daily wear and workouts):

For the purpose of crediting the hourly Stand achievement, your Apple Watch aims to identify when you have stood up and moved around for at least one minute during that hour.

Apple Watch uses an accelerometer to identify movement, so arm movement equivalent to changing from a seated to a standing position followed by a minute's walk around with the arm on which you are wearing your Apple Watch swinging naturally should help to register this. Recalibration may also help, as referenced earlier.

Activity-related estimations also depend, in part, on your personal information. It may help to check that this is accurate:

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.

If the final part of your question relates to AirPods, then it may help to reset them and then set them up again via your iPhone:
