iPhone tether problems with AnyConnect VPN

Hardware involved:

iPhone 5s running 10.3.2

Macbook Pro(s) running 10.12.5 and 11.4.5

Software: Cisco AnyConnect VPN software (4.4.03034) (on the Macbook Pros)

Scenario:

I want to use my iPhone 5s as tether point for a Macbook Pro to my corporate VPN.

Normal tethering to the iPhone works with Wifi, Bluetooth and USB.

However, when I turn on Cisco AnyConnect VPN software (4.4.03034) on the Macbook Pro(s), I can connect to the VPN server, but cannot resolve any internal DNS entries through the VPN tunnel (and the tether). So, I can't access any servers on the corporate network. (Works with Android 7 and Samsung S6 Edge though).

No DNS servers are found through the tunnel.

Looking for a solution that will allow me to use the iPhone as an access point for my Macbook Pros running the Anyconnect VPN software.
