Hello.
I’ve a problem with hdmi connection of my mac mini (MD 387, late 2012) to LED philips 40pfl9704H.
First, when I was connect mac mini to philips 40pfl9704H it was OK, but after 20 – 40 minutes of using the colors on the TV screen nearly inverts (see foto).
If I change video input on my TV and back, or if I change 60hz to 50 hz and back – normal picture is restored, but after 20 – 30 minutes the problem repeats and repeats....
I was reset SMC, change cable, delete com.apple.windowserver.plist, but it is ineffectually.
My second device – asrock ion 330 work’s with 40pfl9704H very correctly.
Hi Viktor,
That is pretty strange, next time it happens try these 4 keys... CMD+alt+control+8
Or System Preferences>Accessabilty>Seeing tab>Black on White or White on Black.
Dear all,
Here exactly the same problem! My 2013 Mac Mini is connected to a Philips TV and the colors inverts in average every 20 minutes, sometimes it takes longer.
When I installed the Mac for the first time the same problem accured but I found on the web a quick fix by placing aan additional directory in the Display/Overrides folder. You can find plenty of information on the web about this problem which is obviously a Handshake problem of the Mac with Philips TV. People say it happens with Philips and Sony TV...
1. Download https://www.mediafire.com/?fdz29bgsg3zm653
2. Unarchive it
3. In the Finder, go to (using cmd-shift-G) the directory /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/
4. Place the entire directory you unarchived in step 2 (DisplayVendorID-410c) in the directory /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/
5. Reboot
This fix solved my problem until I installed Mavericks. I wish I could turn back time!
Hours on the internet to look for a solution learned that again more people have exactly the same issue and a fix seems to be not so easy. I tried to force the Mac into RGB Mode following another thread:
https://gist.github.com/adaugherity/7435890
Sofar still unsuccesful! It is so frustrating! I had a fantastic Multimedia system based on Mac and now since the upgrade to Mavericks it simply does not work anymore!
I anyone has an idea - please.
Thank you very much ! Your words are more like the truth.
I have already found a lot of information on this issue and sincerely do not understand why the Apple corp. for so long does not correct the error.
Would hate to think that in this way they are pushing us to purchase any certain LCD.
Unfortunately, on my Mac (I bought it a month ago) installed Maverick .
Please tell me whether you want to delete the existing files in the directory System/Library/Displays/Overrides
before you copy DisplayVendorID-410c there?
And whether it is necessary to turn off the panel and connect any simple monitor during this operation?
I am trying since weeks all kind of things. In the meantime I deleted all other Overrides from the Directory, I have now only the ID-410c and the 'force RGB' files left.
You don't have to disconnect your TV to change these settings, or do you mean something else?
There seem to be many people with a similar problem, I would be really happy if this issue could be solved!
Thank You for your answer and your care.
It's really works in my case (I have mavericks).
I have de same problem , let apple fix it!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
I thought I would share my experience and solution now that I have been through this several times. I have even got it working on Mavericks and El Capitan.
My solution is for El Capitan. It is a combination of several things I have found on the internet. All I know is that it worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you as well. I am no fan of mucking about with security settings, but it was the only way I found that allowed me to copy the folder to the right directory. Please note that in El Capitan the folder is different to the original "recipe".
1. Shut down the MAC
2. Start up the MAC holding the keys Command-R until the apple appears
3. When possible go to menu Utilities and select Terminal
4. In the Terminal window type csrutil disable -This disables the apple protection of system files and folders (normally NOT recommended!)
5. Reboot
6. Download https://www.mediafire.com/?fdz29bgsg3zm653
7. Unarchive it
8. In the Finder, go to (using cmd-shift-G) the directory /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides - (note - this is for El Capitan!)
9. Place the entire directory you unarchived in step 6 (DisplayVendorID-410c) in the directory /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides
10. Shut down
11. Start up the MAC holding the keys Command-R until the apple appears
12. When possible go to menu Utilities and select Terminal
13. In the Terminal window type csrutil enable This enables apple protection - DON'T FORGET THIS STEP!
14. Reboot
11. Hopefully enjoy non-inverted viewing...
I really hope I haven't forgotten anything. Please use these steps at your own risk. I am no expert. This has worked for me, that's all...
Thank you for the step by step directions. I remember having to add the 410c file under an earlier OS, but in El Capitan the "Overrides" folder is locked out. Fortunately, you provided the steps to allow placing the file in the proper location, which has indeed changed from previous OS.
All is well again!
Thanks, worked like charm for El Capitan.
Now the same problem (even worse - now the colours were right only for few seconds) re-appeared with Sierra. To make things worse also the resolution was now incorrect - it took me half an hour to find a setting in the TV to get the whole picture visible (needed to idenfify my Mac Book Pro as a "PC" from Phillips TV menu). This used to work with El Capitan without any problems. Nothing I did on the Mac side was helping to correct the problem.
Anyhow - will now try the colours trick with Sierra - hopefully works.
Apple should really pay some attention to Mac customers and not frustrate us with simple bugs like this. It's not like they would not have the money and resources to fix these bugs.
This fix worked when using ElCapitan. Now I updated to Sierra and the fix does not work. Any suggestions??? So frustrating. I'm using a Philips Model 246V5 with my Mac mini (Late 2014), 3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris 1536 MB Thanks.
