mid 2012 Macbook Pro

Hi,

I am running a mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13" laptop with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. The MBP would start up onto a white screen and blinking folder. In recovery mode, I was able to run disk utility and repair the hard drive but it would not show up in the restart option as a drive. Restart would go back to a white screen.

I've removed the hard drive from the laptop and attached it externally through a 3.0 USB SATA adapter, the computer started up and worked fine. I've made a back up through time machine and reinstalled the hard drive back into the macbook and it still doesn't show up as a drive.

I am not sure why it is working when attached externally but not when installed internally.

Replace the internal connecting cable (the SATA cable)

Go to www.ifixit.com, there you can look it up as well as buy the cable.
