Over 2000 songs lost after subscribing to iClou...

have within the last couple of hours subscribed to save all music on iTunes to iCloud music library. I have now lost over 2000 songs. According to info on Apple support, Apple advises that all songs on device ( I have an iPad 4th gen), will be saved. no check box giving option to save all songs appeared. After providing relevant info for subscription, I went to iTunes and noticed that songs were now on iCloud, but there were only 329 songs, whereas I had over 2000 songs. Grateful for your help. Thank you so much!
