Will this update work for MacOS 10.11 users? Or is it simply an updating for those already on 10.12?

No, it's an Update, not an Upgrade. It is just for those already using 10.12.

Thanks, macjack - that helps. Any suggestions about how to get 10.12 onto a machine with 10.11? My wife's machine, and she hadn't upgraded; now all I see at the App Sto' is 10.13 . . .

You can try asking at an Apple Store for 10.12, but you may need a good reason what you want that instead of 10.13.

10.12 is no longer available from the AppStore. If you downloaded it previously and made a copy of the installer would be the only way to get it. Or as Eric says, ask at an Apple Store.

But 10.13 is now available with the same specs as 10.12.
