Emptying trash
I have an iMac running OS Sierra, version 10.12.6. My Time Machine went berserk and began copying my entire hard drive every day and soon filled the backup disk and began dumping to trash, which in turn became very full. I turned off Time Machine temporarily and have reset it to copy only my Documents and Photos. I tried to empty the trash and it ran for several days and made little progress. There are several million items left in the trash.
Is there anyway to empty it quickly other than taking the Mac to an Apple store?
Copy your other files off and use the Disk Utility to erase it.
