Can anyone Explain? Who, what and where

Ran into this on my system . So not long ago (2011-ish) I purchased an iMac 21.5" from Best Buy. it was a previously purchased item but at the time it was the only 1 and was marked down. Needless to say i jumped on it. Sometime in the latter part of 2012 after updating from Mountain Lion/Lion to Mavericks I noticed small changes in the OS. So fastforward. Last year 2016, things started getting really weird. various Apple ID accts would just become inaccessable and I'd have to change the password. Then I noticed, my harddrive was **** near full.  How, i had no clue. from purchase date, I turned off Guest User Acct. contrary to what poeple may want to think or believe I know from experience with my PC days that ANY access point is a potentiaI exploitable avenue. Moving on, out nowhere, i notice 'Others' user Acct Icon on my login window. for the longest I couldnt find or locate. i dismissed and went on about things... I was too busy to deal with it at the time. Eventually, I took the time to figure things out and setout to learn some Unix CLi... same animal kingdom as DOS but different animal to say the least. i finally track down this mysterious user acct and a whole lot more. Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

Your computer was likely not setup correctly from the very beginning by Best Buy. Personally I'd never buy a Mac from them and heavens no would I ever let them touch it for service.

I suspect that the computer is still associated with the AppleID that the original buyer provided. That person does not have access to your computer however if they use iCloud storage which is likely what you are doing too  you will get a false amount of available storage showing.
