bootable flash drive

HI

I have 2 macbook pros . 1 is running os Sierra and the other is running El Capitan

the one using El Capitan has crashed and wont boot up . it wont even let me go into Recovery mode

Ive went into single user and run fsck -fy and it still wont boot up .

so I created a bootable flash drive from my macbook running Sierra .

the one that wont boot up has all off my music on it and I have no back up .

so what I would like help with is <> if I use the bootable flash drive with Sierra on the one that wont boot up will it erase my files (music files) ???

also is there any possible way that I could get my files from the one that wont boot up  by using sintac in single user mode ??

or any other way to get this problem solved

any help is much apprciated

Thanks

1. No.

2. Yes, but it's probably easier to hook them up through FireWire or Thunderbolt and start up the El Capitan one with the T key held down.

HI Niel

Thanks for the reply , could you explain in a little detail

NO my files wont be deleted ???

if i connect them both using Thunderbolt <> in target mode what will that do or should i say how does that work ??

thanks

1. Correct.

2. That computer's internal drive will appear on the other as if it was a regular drive.
