View FINDER files in DESCENDING order COLUMN VIEW

I use Column View extensively when organizing my files in Finder (this makes most sense to me, given the hierarchical nature of my files). Since I use a date based naming convention for my files (e.g. 2017-08 Accounts), and I access the most recent files most frequently, I would like to view my files in descending order (most recent files on top). Currently, column view does the opposite. To make matters worse,  when accessing the view, I always am at the top end of sometimes very long lists - I need to scroll down (sometimes extensively) to get to the most recent files.

In list view, it is easy to reorder files by simply clicking the top of the column. But this does not work in column view. As far as I can see, the arrange/sort function does not provide an 'ordering' function. I have scoured the web for ideas, but have come up with nothing. Am I missing something? Does anyone have any creative ideas how to resolve this?
