Macbook Pro not detecting SSD

I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro which was due for an upgrade, so installed a new SSD, however the Macbook wasn't detecting it to go ahead with installing the OS. So I tried connecting it externally and installing the OS, which worked, but after placing it internally it wasn't detected. So then I tried reconnecting it externally and cloning the original HDD to the SSD, which worked, but once again I replaced it internally and its still not being detected. At boot instead of the Apple logo, I get a folder with a question mark. Can someone please help?

The short ribbon cable from the drive to the motherboard may need replacing. What make and model SSD are you using? If it's a Samsung 850 Pro then you should know sometimes they don't work just like the experience you are having. Nothing will get them to work internally. You may find it's better to use the 840 model.

The SSD model is a Kingston SSDNow V300. Is this SSD known to have issues working with Macbooks?

Resetting NVRAM could solve the problem.
