I have went to Setting, General, Software Update. It says iOS 5.1.1, your software it up to date. This iPad was bought in 2010. Is there any way to update? Even though it says it is? I was a gift for my son from his great Aunt to use for school. He would need to download things like Word Documents

That would be the original iPad and it can not be updated beyond iOS 5.1.1
