Lost all the sound on my iPad game apps

There is no sound when I play my games anymore. This is the second time I've had problems with sound. I already had to switch out one iPad. I have a lot of apps and info on this one. I don't want to start all over again.
Anyone eLse have specific sound problems? My iTunes work, videos work. I can hear them all. But not game sounds.

And sound is half the fun with angry birds.

Is the switch on the right hand side of your iPad 'on' ? Rotation lock is a software function on the taskbar in 4.2 and the switch mutes notifications e.g. so that you can watch videos or listen to music without hearing email notifications etc. If you are on 4.3 then you can change the function of the side switch between rotation lock and notification muting. More info here https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

Rotation lock via the taskbar : double-click the home button, slide from the left, and its the button far left; press home again to exit the taskbar; repeat to switch off rotation lock.

Thank you King_Penguin.  Sorry it's taken me so long to reply.  Thank you for your response.  It's all good now.

Thank you! I've been having this problem for a few weeks and have been too lazy to look for a fix until now. I had the switch set to "lock rotation" but after reading your answer I set it to "mute" and then back and all my sounds came back. I guess it just got confused. Thanks again.

Thank you so much!!! you saved me hours of work and time on the phone to apple! Thanks again

Jill

Thank you! I restored my ipad thinking it wud solve the problem... Shud have read ur post first!

This seems like a bug to me.

I had the same issue...no sound on games, but sound on iTunes, videos, etc.  But I had the rocker switch set to "lock Rotate", and it was OFF.  I even got the notification at times to increase sound effects, and it allowed me to turn up the volume of sound effects.  But still no game sounds.

So in the mode of "try everything" I followed King_Penguin's advice (Thanks KP.) Switched the side switch to "Mute", turned it on, turned it off, and back to lock "rotate" (still off, though.)  Now the sound in games works.

Anyway, it works now.  But seems like a bug that would be nice to have fixed.

thanks! had the same inexplicable mute problem on my games, now all fixed.

Thank you very much for your posting!

It helped me too.

Thank you, this has been bugging me for weeks!

Thank you! Your post solved a question of mine! I must have accidently swithed that button, my bad.

Thank you.  I, too, was having this problem and would never have found that solution on my own.

Lost all sound on my games on I pad

You've checked the notification mute / side switch  and/or Control Centre ?

Had the same problem with my IPad Air. Switched button setting to mute muted it and switched it back to lock rotation. Sound came back. Thank you so much for your help.
