Cannot enable filevault on MacOs High Sierra
After upgrading to High Sierra, booting the system, began to ask me for two passwords, one for filevault and another for the session.
I deactivated filevault. After 15 hours desencrypting finished.
Now, I am trying to activate Filevault and receive the message: "Authentication server refused operation because the current credentials are not authorized for the requested operation."
What can I do to activate Filevault?
Try from Terminal.app—Checking The Status of FileVault
To check the status of file vault within Terminal copy and paste:
fdesetup status
Terminal will report back with a message telling if you FileVault is on or off. This is a quick and simple way of checking the status.
To enable FileVault copy and paste:
sudo fdesetup enable
You will need to enter your admin password.
I get "Error: A problem occurred while trying to enable FileVault. (-69594)" via command line and "Authentication server refused operation because the current credentials are not authorized for the requested operation." via System Preferences.
I did a clean install after using a USB-boot installer and formatting the disk APFS(Encrypted). It had a boot password through part of the setup process. I restored data from a El Capitan backup and the FV2 is not enabled. Not sure what along the way disabled it but I would like to enable it now. I installed from a copy of High Sierra I downloaded from the app store last Thursday so it shouldn't be beta-related and the system previously was running El Capitan with a HFS+ Journaled/encrypted disk.
This is the result:
~$ sudo fdesetup enable
Password: <I gave my session password>
Enter the user name: <I gave my appleId>
Enter the password for user '<appleid here>': <my password of the appleid>
Error: A problem occurred while trying to enable FileVault. (-69550)
It is certainly very creative of you to enter your Apple-ID. But that command asked for your Userid, which is the User-short-name you entered in:
System preferences > Users & Groups ...
,,, when you set up your account on the computer.
