May be a screen grab problem  from an external drive, but I have 2docks showing and info from an external drive showing - can't delete or trash.  Macbk Pro 17" early 2998 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Du0, 6gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram

computer almost full 25 gigs left.  photographer with lightroom   showing on screen a list of about 2 tiffs from a folder in lightroom and on external drive.    This happened, i think after I was moving a folder of photos on to my desktop.   thank you,  chris  

Could you have attempted to delete Time Machine backups via Finder?

Not sure why you have 2 Docks. If it is a screen grab you should be able to close it.

Please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of own helpers here in ASC. It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will give us further specs on your Mac. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.

Hi Computerdolt:

Have you been using the external drive to write files to from your mac?

Is your desktop Windows or Mac?

Can you delete the files on the external drive from your desktop?

How is the external drive formatted?

If it is formatted in NTSF for Windows, Mac can read from it, but not write to it.

It would follow that you could not delete files from it either.
