MacBook Pro display problems

Hi.

My brand new (about a month old) MacBook Pro has developed an issue with the display. Yesterday it started flashing a pattern on purple/blue lines around the bottom of the screen. When restarted, I get a yellow stripe down the right hand side.  I'm finding references to a mixture of similar issues online, but most for slightly older machines. I found nothing helpful on the Apple site because it appears to be deliberately infuriating.

Does anyone know about this issue? Has it been much of a problem elsewhere? What I don't want to happen is for it to be the thing that kills this computer after two years, especially as it cost a sodding fortune.

Any useful information is very much appreciated.
