Sierra

I'm using Sierra 10.12.3 - with two languages, Hebrew and English.

 

I'm using the keyboard shortcut CMD+Space to switch between them.

The problem is it only works sometimes (I'd say 50%) of the time.

Also, sometimes it jus switches by itself, after I finish writing a line and press "Enter" or even just after I pause writing for a few seconds.

 

This used to work fine with my older MacBook, now I switched to the New MacBook Pro 15'' with Sierra, and it's really annoying and hurting productivity.

 

Even using CapsLock has the same problem (In Settings->Keyboard->InputSourcers->"Use the Caps Lock key to switch to and from ABC").

Try going to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts and changing the shortcut to Control + Space.  That is the default for a new install of Sierra and may work better.

I had the very same problem, a minute or two after reading this post I decided to randomly try diffeent keystrokes.

 

I found that if you hold press CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE it switches languages and if you hold CTRL and press SPACE, it gives an onscreen display of languages you can switch!

 

Nowhere did I find this on the Preferences or languages. So weird. The SHIFT+ALT+SPACE suggestion on the preferences does not work.

Also if you go to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts and click on input sources, it should normally display those shortcuts unless someone has changed them, or they were different in the macos version that was migrated from.

I didn't migrate, got my Sierra pre-installed when MBP arrived. The link you send does not match what I am seeing at my end. I find that odd. I am using an external Apple Keyboard but even the built-in keyboard has same issue.

Doesn't Control Option Space step through your layouts?  And Control Space (without holding down to get the popup menu) switch between the last two layouts used?

ctrl+alt+space works everytime
