"Completing installation..." message every time...

Hi

Every time I power up my MBP (late 2016 15") I see a progress bar with the message "Completing installation: About 2 minutes remaining" and the boot process takes longer than expected.

I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.2, updated from the stock install that was included on the MacBook Pro at purchase.

Can anyone suggest how I can diagnose and resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Bernard

Apparently the solution was to post the problem to these forums.    After seeing this issue repeatedly over the last week, including this morning - it has now vanished.  I can no longer reproduce the problem.  Which is a good thing, I guess.

I have the same problem on my MBP (late 2016 15") after OS X Sierra upgrade to 10.12.4

Even reinstall on cleared drive don't solve the problem.

Every reboot I see progress bar with this message.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

solve problem after disabling FileVault and reboot

last stage with "less than minute" was to long - more than 5 minutes. After completion problem was solved.

hope this help anybody

I have the same issue, but I am not using FileVault...

No idea what this could be

Suggest you connect charger and charger to electrical outlet for power. There might be a EFI ROM update happening.

Same issue after 10.12.4 update on MBP 15" 2016.  File Vault not running and MBP is connected to mains.

I solved this by downloading the standalone 10.12.4 Combo Updater from Apple's site (link) and reapplying the update.  I had originally got from 10.12.2 to 10.12.4 via an update downloaded through the App Store app which clearly didn't quite work completely.

Have you tried to shutdown using the Power Button - hold for 10 seconds. Reattach Charger and start charging. Now hold SHIFT key at the same time Power Button ( SAFE MODE ). It may allow the update to finish the installation.

Hello,

For me the issue was because using AV dongle: USB-C to USB-C, HDMI, USB-A 3.0.

I found the following solution on my own.

1) Turn-Off your Mac Book Pro 2016.

2) Disconnect AV dongle.

3) Turn-On your Mac Book Pro 2016.

4) Log-In on any Administrator type of accout.

5) Connect AV dongle back.

6) Above will start installation process of AV dongle driver.

7) Follow instalation steps to finish and that will solve the issue.

Please let me know if that works for you as well?

Thanks

That was my problem. It happened on the new Macs with USB-C. I cloned a drive to a bunch of Macs, and they are set to start up with the Guest account. Once I switched to an admin account and plugged in a VGA or HDMI USB-C adapter it prompted me to install an update.
