iphone 4s unrecognised

Hi,

All my 30 pin devices (4s and ipad) have suddenly stopped being recognised by iTunes on my iMac. I am getting the charging symbol on the devices.I'm using macosSierra on the iMac. I've uninstalled and reloaded iTunes, removed my expired Norton security program, used all usb ports, all devices are updated.  They are recognised when I use the macbook iTunes. I'm using a buddee cable not a apple cable. Could this be the problem?

Yes, the cable is probably the problem.

The genuine Apple cable carries an exact amount of voltage, and the aftermarket brands often cannot match that exact voltage.
