it tells me that I have the incorrect apple id and password. I need to have the correct apple id and password to which the phone was locked with. It went disabled because the kids typed in the wrong code so many times. I can not unlock/activate it now

Just to be clear, are you talking about your Apple ID & password or your iPhone passcode?  For passcode, see this article:

IM having the same issue. I disabled it after loosing my iPhone6 somewhere in my home. I have now found it and it's telling correct apple ID and password are not correct. I know 100% that they really are. Any advice anyone please?
