Cannot see image in mail

All I can see is the frame of the image and a question mark in the middle in small a blue box. What settings should I change so I can see the image in the mail received? Thanks!

Normally you should either see the image directly, or see an icon, such as this:

If you see an icon with a ? then there might be a problem with the file, or it may be in a format that is not recognized.

Does it open if you double-click?

Try control-click the Icon, choose View in Place. What happens?
