Why did Apple make it impossible to do a comple...

Just make the mistake of downloading iTunes 12.7. Now it's impossible for me to do a complete backup or restore of my iOS device through my computer. How does getting a new device work now? Used to be, I'd launch iTunes, plug in my new device, say "yes, it's my new device," and everything would be taken care of. How does it work now? Apple sure doesn't explain that in the iTunes release notes (Changes in the new iTunes - Apple Support).

The whole appeal of iOS over Android is the simplicity and clarity, like knowing your device is 100% synced to your computer, so you can always restore just by plugging in. This new behavior is exactly like Android.

Not to mention the fact that this update leaves an entire folder of iOS apps, ringtones, etc. on your Mac, taking up several gigs of space, with no instructions on what to do with all that. (Several gigs of increasingly valuable space, now that Apple has made it impossible to get 13" laptop with a 500GB drive for less than $2000.)

Every Apple product I own is getting less and less user-friendly. What's going on in Cupertino?!?
