Outgoing Mail (SMTP) does not work on new iMAC ...

I have purchased a new iMAP and used the Migration Assistant to transfer the entire content from the old iMac to the new. Everything has been migrated successfully.

But, now I have the problem that Mail cannot send email - the SMTP authentication fails even though the email IMAP and SMTP username and password have been entered correctly.

I have checked and double-checked the email account settings and everything is fine and it is possible to receive emails (IMAP). I have also contacted my internet provider where I have the email account and they have also checked the settings and have not been able to find any problems. I have delete the account and added it again and the problem is still the same.

I am not able to set any port for the SMTP connect - but I guess that is not necessary?

I wonder if there is a file (or several files) migrated from the old iMac that is someway having legacy information that prevent the correct SMTP setting and authentication?? Maybe the file com.apple.mail.plist??

So, I hope that someone can help me fixing my SMTP problem so I will be able to send emails on my new iMAC.

Thanks in advance

Flemming
